چکیده

2687 Since the passage of the original Clean Air Act in 1963, US state and federal governments have implemented numerous policies designed to reduce human exposure to ground-level ozone pollution. Ozone is an odorless, colorless gas that has been linked to asthma, increased susceptibility to pneumonia and bronchitis, and damage to crops and natural vegetation. Michelle L. Bell et al. (2004) have estimated that even marginal short-term changes in ozone concentrations can have substantial human mortality impacts. While ozone is not emitted directly by any source, the two classes of chemicals that react in the atmosphere to produce ozone—volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and oxides of nitrogen (NOx)—are pollutants produced in part through human activity. Despite more than 40 years of emissions regulation, however, many areas of the US continue to experience ambient air concentrations of ozone that exceed standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Gasoline Content Regulation and Compliance Behavior among US Refineries

The refining industry in the US is a leading producer of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions. As a result of the Clean Air Act, it has been subject to a host of environmental regulations that prescribes the production processes firms can employ and limits their emissions based on the permits they hold. On the other hand, in some regions, refiners have been forced to produce higher quali...

Comparison of Dispersion of Air Pollutants Carbon Monoxide and Unburned Hydrocarbon Gases in Combustion Chamber of Gas and Gasoline Cars in the Years 2009-2013 in Shiraz

Gasoline fuel vehicles cause emissions of airborne pollutants that are poisonous and have a deleterious effect on human health and the environment while natural gas fuels have less harmful effects on the environment and humans due to their greater environmental compatibility. The propose of this study is to investigate the concentration of CO, HC, O2 in the exhaust outlet of gas and diesel cars...

Influence of oxygen-enrichment air intake and bioethanol–gasoline blends on exhaust emissions and fuel consumption of gasoline engine

Among human activities, motor vehicles play the most important role in air pollution. Air pollution has negative impacts on people and on the environment. In this paper the effect of oxygen-enriched air (20.8%, 21.8%, 22.8%, 23.8% and 24.8%) and different bioethanol-gasoline blends (zero, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%) in different engine speeds (1000 rpm, 2000 rpm and 3000 rpm) on the amount o...
